The Rising Phoenix Gallery is thrilled to announce a call for artists for our upcoming October 2024 exhibit ”Myth and Folklore”. We are seeking passionate local and regional artists of all skill levels to showcase their unique talents in this vibrant exhibition. This is a fantastic opportunity for both professional and amateur artists to display their work in a supportive and esteemed environment.

Exhibit Dates:

• Submission Deadline: Monday, July 1, 11:59 PM.
• Notice of Acceptance: Monday, July 15
• Art Delivery: September 13 - 17
• Opening Reception: Friday, September 20, 2024, 5 PM - 8 PM
• Exhibition Duration: September 20 - October 20, 2024
• Art Pickup: October 21 - 27

Submission Details:

• Open to All Mediums: We welcome submissions across all mediums - from painting and sculpture to digital art and mixed media.
• Theme: Myth and Folklore 
• This October, the Rising Phoenix Gallery embarks on a mystical journey through the ages with our "Myth and Folklore" exhibit. We invite artists to dive into the rich tapestry of myths, legends, and folk tales that have shaped cultures around the globe. From the ancient epics of Greece to the spirited tales of Native American folklore, the haunting Norse sagas to the vibrant stories of African deities, this theme offers a boundless landscape for creative exploration. Artists are encouraged to reinterpret these age-old narratives through their unique artistic lenses, breathing new life into classic tales or unearthing lesser-known stories eager for a fresh audience. Whether through painting, sculpture, digital media, or mixed mediums, let your artwork narrate these timeless stories in a way that captivates, educates, and inspires. This exhibit aims not only to showcase the universality and diversity of human storytelling but also to connect our contemporary world with the rich, imaginative legacy of our ancestors. • Eligibility: Local and regional artists of any skill level, from professional to amateur.
• Submission Deadline: Please submit your artwork for consideration by Thursday, August 1, 11:59 PM.

Artist Benefits:

• No Submission Fee: There is no charge for artists to exhibit.
• Sales Commission: Artists receive 60% of the sales price, with the gallery retaining a 40% commission. Artists are responsible for the pricing their own artwork.
• Exposure: Participate in our well-attended opening reception and benefit from promotion on the Rising Phoenix Gallery's website and social media channels.

Artwork Submission Guidelines:

• The application will include a brief artist bio, and a description of each piece.
• Ensure your contact information is correct for follow-up communications.
• Include 1-3 high-quality images of each piece your work, a maximum of 5 art works can be submitted for consideration. 
• Image files should be titled in the following manner. (Artist Name, Title of Artwork, hight in inches, width in inches, depth in inches). Here is an example: Vincent Van Gogh, Starry Night, 12” x 16” x 2”
• Two-Dimensional Wall Art:
• For those wishing to grace our walls with your two-dimensional masterpieces, please ensure your art is ready for display upon arrival. All pieces must be framed or suitably prepared for hanging. If your artwork requires special arrangements, kindly coordinate with us in writing before the exhibit's opening. We welcome pieces up to 16 square feet in size (maximum dimensions of 4 ft. by 4 ft.) and a weight limit of 80 pounds. This allows us a diverse range of art while ensuring the safety and integrity of our display spaces.
• Three-Dimensional Pedestal / Floor Art:
• Sculptors and creators of three-dimensional art, we eagerly anticipate your submissions. Your works can occupy up to 16 cubic feet, with maximum dimensions of 2 ft. in length, 2 ft. in width, and 4 ft. in height, adhering to an 80-pound weight limit. At Rising Phoenix Gallery, we provide a limited number of pedestals for display purposes and will allocate these on a first-come, first-served basis to best accommodate your art.

We strive to showcase your work in the best light and appreciate your adherence to these guidelines, ensuring a seamless and stunning exhibition for all.

Our priority is to maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Delivery and Return of Artwork:

Artists are responsible for the safe delivery and retrieval of their artwork, covering all associated costs. Upon review of submissions, selected artists will be informed via email about the inclusion of their piece in the exhibit. Please note, for the "Around the Bend" exhibit, only one artwork from each artist's submission will be chosen for display.

Insurance:

While under the care of the Rising Phoenix Gallery, we will insure your artwork against damage or loss. However, artists must arrange for insurance coverage for their pieces during transportation to and from our gallery. This ensures that your valuable work is protected at every stage of its journey to and from the Rising Phoenix Gallery.

Whether it be through the vivid chaos of nightmares or the elusive beauty of dreamscapes, this theme seeks to uncover the hidden narratives and emotions that lie beneath the surface of our consciousness. We call upon creators of all mediums to delve into their personal nocturnes, to bring forth works that challenge, enchant, and provoke. Let your art reflect the dualities of dreams and nightmares—the fear and the fascination, the darkness and the light, the strange and the familiar.
