Teen Glass Camp (Sea life Sculpture)

This is a four day glass art camp designed for teens 12 - 18 years of age. Beginner level students will develop an ever growing number of skills by creating a different sea creature each of the first three days of the camp. The last day the sea creatures will be connected together on a clear glass coral reef.

Day One. Mixing color and making fish.

Day Two. Sea horses

Day Three. Stingrays

Day Four. Coral reef and assembly of all the parts.

The class will include a step by step demo by the instructor. The students will then have approximately 2.5 hours of torch time of their own each day. During this time students are encouraged to create as many pieces as they can. Lampworking/Torch working class sizes are limited to 3 people. This provides each student with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get personalized quality responses and one on one instruction.

About the Teacher

Our Lampworking instructor is John Ryszka II. John has been working with glass full time since 2003. He started out in the sign industry as a neon sign tube bender. In 2010 he left the sign industry and became a full time glass artist. He has now won numerous awards and live competitions, writes for glass trade journals and has authored a book of his own. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of glass working and teaches regularly at both Water Street Glass Works and here at The Rising Phoenix Gallery.
